What Is Hypnotherapy, Really?

Hypnosis isn't strange or mystical. It's a natural state you already go into all the time.

It's that feeling when you're completely absorbed in a film, and the rest of the world disappears. When you're driving and arrive somewhere without remembering the journey. When you're so focused on something that time becomes irrelevant. That's hypnosis. It's being in flow, and it's completely safe, completely natural, and completely within your control.

In a session, that state is deepened intentionally. Your body is relaxed, your eyes are closed, and your mind becomes more open. And you come to interpret things with a higher understanding.

Here's why it works:

Something happened → you felt an emotion → you formed a belief → that belief created a thought → that thought created a behavior.

An event made you feel powerless, or unseen, or not enough. That feeling became a belief: I'm not good enough, and I will always be this way. That belief became a thought pattern, and that thought pattern became the issues you're struggling with today.

Talk therapy works at the level of the thought, and that has its place.

Hypnotherapy goes all the way back to the feeling, the root. And when the feeling shifts, the belief changes. When the belief changes, so does the thought. When that happens, the behavior changes, because it simply doesn’t make sense to behave that way anymore.

We cannot change what happened. But we can change the way we feel about it.

And that changes everything.

How Sessions Work

Our first session begins with a conversation. We go over your intake form and talk through what's brought you to me. Then we move right into the hypnotherapy.

Eyes closed, I will get you nice and relaxed. At a certain point, I'll say: "We're going to the cause, the reason, the root of the issue," and you'll be able to tell me. We go from there.

All sessions are conducted virtually. Wherever you are, you can do this work from the comfort of your own home. Sessions run 2-3 hours. Most clients are surprised by how quickly we get to the heart of things.

Why do people do what they do? Why do we keep repeating the same patterns even when we can see them clearly? Why does insight so rarely translate into real change?

Before becoming a hypnotherapist, I spent more than twenty years as an actor. More than a hundred commercials, television, film. A career that taught me how to live inside other people's psychology, to pay attention to what is unsaid, and importantly, to understand the gap between the self we present and what is behind the mask.

I originally came to hypnotherapy because I wanted to stop smoking, which I did, but what fascinated me was how quickly deeply held patterns could shift once the subconscious mind was involved. I realized there was an entire layer beneath conscious understanding where real change actually happens. And I decided to learn everything I could about it.

A profound part of my own journey has been fertility. I spent 4 years navigating the ups and downs of IVF, complete with multiple surgeries and being told over and over to consider a donor egg or adoption. Smash cut to me giving birth at 43 and 46 years old.

Ahem, years young, that is.

It also became the foundation for a separate area of my practice: fertility hypnotherapy and subconscious healing for women walking that road.

Something I know to be true is that people are not broken.

So much of who we become lives at the level of belief, deeper than conscious thought. And that is exactly the level where this work happens.

I am not here to tell you who you are. I believe, deeply, that people already carry their own wisdom. My role is to help you access it. To help you uncover the beliefs, change the patterns, and emotional imprints beneath the surface of your conscious awareness, that are keeping you stuck.

This work is not about becoming someone else.

It is about becoming more fully yourself.
